I have found three different coats of arms for the name Goulet. They come from ref #11, ref #12, ref #13, and from a mail order family history place. The one shown above is the only one that might have been conferred before Jacques sailed to Canada, so it has the best chance of being the correct one for the Goulets in North America, if one exists. To see the other coats of arms click here.
The one shown above is from an illustration in ref #13, and I don't have an official blazon for it. Based on the picture the blazon that I came up with is: Or in bend four torteaus between two rustres azure.
I have no information for who this was conferred to only that the family was from Brittany.
If you have any additional information on the coat of arms, please contact me.
Jacques Goulet was one of the earliest settlers in the Québec Colony. In fact when he arrived in the Spring of 1646, with his new bride, there were less than 600 colonists there. There is a plaque in the St. Pierre de la Poterie church in France commemorating the voyage of Jacques and his sister Louise to the New World. In Québec, Jacques worked as a miller, grinding wheat for the local monastery. Here is a picture of the mill that Jacques worked at in the mid 1600's.
This line has been researched back to late 16th century France. Most of the research that I have comes from three people: Robert Goulet, Gilles Goulet and Alan Goulet. Many thanks to them for providing me with the neccessary information.

The oldest entry that I have is for Jacques father Thomas.

My Goulet database is available as either a GEDCOM or as a Family Tree Maker file. A viewer for Family Tree Maker files is available here. This database does not contain any maternal lines, if you want those you must take the database on my Genealogy Home Page.
